I hadn’t ridden one since I was 14 until 2020, during lockdown, when there were less cars on the road, and more bikes, and suddenly I wanted one again, so I went out and bought myself an electric bike, out of the blue! My husband was like WTF, because I’d never mentioned it before, so when I arrived home saying I’d bought one it was quite a shock! But we went for short slow rides, and I always wore a helmet and gloves, and pretty soon I was riding to the stables and back and it truly felt like freedom. I’ve not been able to ride much since my intestines went mad in 2022, but we bought bikes for Spain, too (we bought here in 2021) and use it for short rides around the resort, and once in a while, when I’m in a good period, I’ve been for longer rides, which is wonderful. Truly feels like freedom! But few real roads, mostly dirt roads and forest trails, so I usually feel safe. It’s great!

It sounds great! We have good cycle paths in York but they’re busy. Everywhere is busy. I wouldn’t feel safe seeing how people bomb around. Where you are sounds ideal!

Thank you, Lizzie! I am told that my Auntie Beatrice flounced out of the toilets when my parents got married with her dress tucked into her knickers. A waiter pointed, and she just thanked him and founded on! Legend!
